Academic Programs
Our academic programs are designed to challenge and inspire your child to reach their highest potential.
Reading & Writing
NECS recognizes that the skill of reading is what all other learning builds upon. To ensure all children develop a strong foundation in literacy skills, we have implemented a multisensory approach to learning for preschool through eighth grade. A multisensory approach to learning recognizes that language is a complex system and customizes instruction to the unique needs of each learner. Using multiple pathways to teach and review concepts helps solidify the connection between what students hear, say, see, and write. This evidence-based approach aligns with the science of reading. Research shows that this approach to learning is the most effective way to teach children reading, spelling, and writing.
Math & Science
When we study math and science we are actually on a journey to discover the Truth of Creation and ponder the mystery of life. Colossians 1:16 says, “For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth…”. Studying our natural world from a Biblical perspective allows us to discover faith-affirming insights into what, how, and why God engineered our world the way He did. At NECS we implement a curriculum that explores math and science concepts from a Biblical worldview.
Social Studies
Learning about the world from a Biblical point of view is more important than ever. Analyzing and interpreting past and present events from God’s perspective is essential in developing a Christian worldview. In social studies, NECS students work together in collaborative learning groups, allowing them to problem-solve and increase engagement as they study American and world history.
Critical Thinking
As our students engage in the culture God has placed them in, they are bombarded with messages contradicting Biblical truth. We encourage our students to think critically to discern whether messages are true and worth believing. God’s Word is our ultimate source for truth. By applying logical reasoning from the starting point of God’s Word, we encourage our students to think through faith-challenging messages and reach a conclusion consistent with a Biblical worldview.
